Tracey Coates Joins DCVLP Board
Paley Rothman Partner brings expertise to growing non-profit
Washington DC | February 6, 2018 – The DC Volunteer Lawyers Project is honored to announce that Tracey Coates, a Litigation and Family Law Partner at Paley Rothman, will be joining its Board of Directors. For the past four years, Ms. Coates has volunteered at the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project and taken some of the most difficult cases on behalf of domestic violence victims and at-risk children.
“I cannot say enough positive things about Ms. Coates. Our clients have benefited enormously from her outstanding representation. We are lucky to have her,” says Sara Tennen, Legal Director at the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Prior to working for private practices, Ms. Coates was a staff attorney with Maryland Legal Aid Bureau and clerked for a judge in Arizona. From 2013 to 2016, Ms. Coates has been designated as a Rising Star by both Washington, D.C. and Maryland Super Lawyers. Ms. Coates graduated from Smith College and Hamline University School of Law. She is also a certified mediator.
About the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project
Since 2008, the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project has utilized a unique non-profit model to provide training, supervision and support to thousands of volunteer attorneys who have provided pro bono legal assistance to thousands of domestic violence victims and at-risk children in the District of Columbia. The DC Volunteer Lawyers Project’s dedicated volunteer attorneys represent victims in protection order, custody, child support and divorce cases, and serve as court-appointed advocates for vulnerable children living with domestic violence, abuse, neglect and other difficult circumstances. In addition, the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project operates a Domestic Violence Resource Clinic in Southwest DC, where approximately 1,500 victims have accessed legal, housing and counseling services.
