Celebrating Our Volunteers: February Highlights
In February, our volunteer attorneys continued to dedicate their time, talent, and commitment to survivors and children throughout DC and Montgomery County, MD. Their advocacy and compassion provide critical support during some of the most challenging moments in our clients’ lives. We are deeply thankful for their partnership and for the powerful role they play in advancing safety, stability, and justice for every survivor and child we serve.

FEBRUARY KUDOS
Supporting Survivors of Domestic Violence
- Chase Gordon, Hal Brewster, and Heather Lamberg (Freshfields US LLP) – Had an unending commitment to their domestic violence survivor client. After they successfully represented the client at a 2-day Civil Protection Order trial at the end of 2024, they took on the client’s case to assist her with getting sole custody of the parties’ five-year-old twins. After dealing with multiple legal and logistical challenges, the team successfully obtained an order granting the client sole custody of the children.
- Elizabeth Shneider and Cassady Cohick (Hogan Lovells LLP) – Were passionate and committed in their representation of their domestic violence survivor client. Elizabeth and Cassady were able to secure a 2- year Civil Protection Order for their client with all the relief she was seeking, despite significant pushback and falsehoods from the abuser during negotiations.
- Jon Pifer was a thorough and detail-oriented advocate for his client. Jon had several case prep calls with the CL in only a few short days.
