Testimony of Sara B. Tennen, Executive Director: Catastrophic Proposed Cuts to Victim Services Funding

April 14, 2023: DCVLP Executive Director Sara B. Tennen testified before the Committee on Judiciary & Public Safety, urging the Council to understand the catastrophic cuts to the Victim Services Community proposed in the Mayor’s FY24 budget. She was joined by two DCVLP clients who would not have had access to a lawyer without Victim Services funding.
“These cuts will have impacts for generations to come. Children will grow up seeing the systems are not made for them, not made to protect them, and not made to ensure that they have a fair shot.”
